The Internet Can Wait

There was a time when I believed productivity was proof.

Proof that I was committed.

Proof that I was growing.

Proof that I was making progress.

The more I healed, however, the more I realized that constantly producing is not the same thing as being present.

Some days are meant for creating.

Other days are meant for receiving.

And if we’re honest, many of us struggle with the receiving part.

We check off tasks.

Respond to messages.

Support our families.

Show up for clients.

Build businesses.

Encourage others.

Create content.

And then, after doing all of that, we convince ourselves we should have done more.

But what if enough is enough?

What if today’s work deserves room to breathe?

What if the post doesn’t need another caption?

What if the business doesn’t need another promotion tonight?

What if the world can wait until tomorrow?

As women, especially those who pour into everyone around them, we often forget that rest is not a reward.

Rest is part of the work.

The soil does not produce year-round.

The moon does not remain full every night.

Nature itself understands cycles.

Expansion.

Rest.

Renewal.

Repeat.

Yet somewhere along the way, many of us began measuring our worth by our output.

We began believing that slowing down meant falling behind.

But returning to ourselves often requires the opposite.

It requires us to sit still long enough to hear our own thoughts.

To notice our own needs.

To remember that we are human beings before we are brands, businesses, titles, roles, responsibilities, or expectations.

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is close the laptop.

Put down the phone.

Take a deep breath.

And allow yourself to simply exist.

Not because you’ve earned it.

But because you deserve it.

Today, I am reminding myself that I do not have to fill every moment.

I do not have to create every day.

I do not have to prove my value through constant motion.

I can trust what I’ve already planted.

I can trust what I’ve already shared.

I can trust that the seeds are working beneath the surface.

And so can you.

Journal Prompt: What am I afraid might happen if I allow myself to rest without guilt?

Affirmation: I do not have to earn rest. My worth is not measured by my productivity.

Call to Action: Before bed tonight, write down three things you accomplished today and one thing you are grateful you no longer feel responsible for carrying. Then give yourself permission to rest.

Until next time, Anchored Woman…
